Wednesday 12 February 2025 Sustainable Youth Cop 2025 On Tuesday 11 February, four Year 10 and 12 representatives from our School Council and JPIC (Justice, Peace, Integrity of Creation) were one of 29 schools invited to attend the annual Hertfordshire County Council: Sustainable Youth Cop 2025 event at the North Hertfordshire College, Stevenage Campus.

Monday 16 December 2024 Food Tech News - Christmas Treats! In Food tech over the past month, we have been making some Christmas themed bakes. First, we were given a brief to make a Christmas themed canape that would be suitable for the range at M&S. Then on 4th December we made yule logs and decorated them the following week. It was really fun and also a great opportunity to practise some of the skills we will need for our GCSE practical exam.

Sunday 15 December 2024 Christmas Quiz 2024 Tele (10J) & Elodie (10F) are this year's Christmas Quiz champions. With a huge lead of 5 points, they beat 12 other teams to win the title and chocolates. The library was packed to capacity by eager quizzers keen to show off their knowledge of 'all things Christmassy' in Mr Carter's annual quiz.

Friday 25 October 2024 Author Talk (Yr 9) - Tia Fisher Tia Fisher visited Year 9 and spoke about her award-winning debut novel Crossing the Line. Written in narrative verse and based on a true story, Tia’s novel tackles the topic of County Lines (covered in PSHE lessons) and won the prestigious Yoto Carnegies Shadowers’ Choice Award this year.

Friday 25 October 2024 Author Talk (Yrs 7 & 8) - Sarah Crossan Multi-award-winning author Sarah Crossan gave a hugely engaging and entertaining talk to Years 7 and 8 on the pleasure and importance of reading, poetry and why we sometimes fall out of love with reading. Sarah pointed out that poetry is everywhere and how growing up in a faith environment you have poetry in your heart. She had pupils reciting lines from Hamilton, Moana and Shakespear!

Tuesday 1 October 2024 MFL Fun Day 2024 | Yr8 On Friday 27 September, the MFL Department once again delivered a lively, engaging and enjoyable day for our Yr8 students. Lots was achieved, and the students got a chance to find out about the importance of learning and appreciating different languages and cultures from all around the world. They also got an opportunity to value the interdisciplinary nature of communicating in another language, and the wealth of career paths available as a result

Tuesday 25 June 2024 Carnegie Book Awards 2024 @ Beaumont School Fourteen pupils from years 8, 9 & 10 spent a fun morning at Beaumont on 20th June discussing this year’s shortlisted books while waiting for the much anticipated winners to be announced on the livestream. Working in groups, the shadowers as they are called, discussed the books, voted for their favourite and took part in a quiz.

Friday 26 April 2024 Yr 9 Student Wins Columban 'Biodiversity Matters' Comp! Megan-Rose in Yr9 has won 2nd place in Britain for her media competition entry of 'Biodiversity Matters’. Columban missionaries asked young people aged 13-18 years to produce a piece of writing or image that demonstrates an awareness and understanding of the issue of biodiversity and highlight people, communities and/or organisations trying to build a sustainable future. Protecting biodiversity - which humanity relies on for health, food and well-being - is a mission priority of Columban missionaries.

Friday 8 March 2024 Careers Fair 2024 On Friday 8 March, to cap off a very successful National Careers Week at Loreto College, we hosted our annual careers fair in the hall and workshop. We were lucky enough to be supported by representatives from a number of different organisations, industries, professions and educational providers. During period 2 the fair was open exclusively to Year 11 pupils as part of their PSHE programme, then to Year 9, period 3. And everyone was welcome to pop along during break time. The fair provided students with a fine opportunity to address many of the eight Gatsby benchmarks for Good Careers Guidance, including:
