Sustainable Youth Cop 2025

On Tuesday 11 February, four Year 10 and 12 representatives from our School Council and JPIC (Justice, Peace, Integrity of Creation) were one of 29 schools invited to attend the annual Hertfordshire County Council: Sustainable Youth Cop 2025 event at the North Hertfordshire College, Stevenage Campus.

The day was split into four parts, with a Climate Change: En-ROADS session in which the students used the global climate simulator (En-ROADS) to explore the impacts of policies — such as electrifying transport, pricing carbon and improving agricultural practices, including factors such as energy prices, temperature, air quality, and sea level rise. Along with a new sustainability careers pathway seminar, careers fair and an interactive workshop focusing on the following global issues:

  • Adaptation / flood risk
  • Carbon reduction
  • Cleaner air
  • Enhancing nature

This greatly informed our students with our focus this year on sustainability linking to Catholic Social Teaching and Laudato Si. They had a fantastic day working with other students and are ready to put their newly found knowledge into practice within school.
